My Zoe

Angel of my heart
Poppy’s darling girl

So gorgeous
And
Huggable

So much a little girl
So much a beauty
So much poppy’s future

A Grandfathers joy
In tough times

My Boys

When the boys are around
Its life
It’s vibrant
It’s on
And the place gets exciting
Jades as extrovert as a man can be a special boy
Whilst Mike shrinks with his violet a special boy
Craig’s as loud as hell but cannot sing a note a special boy
And Joel is aloof but beautiful a special boy

All good men
Whom I love dearly
Its life
It’s vibrant
It’s on
And the place gets exciting

When they are here

For
I love them all so dearly

They are my boys

Betty

Betty is this it
Be strong girl call on the years
The grit
The strength of motherhood
The things that got you through

Old Joe was a candle for you
That never went out
Flames flicker
Old flames can burn a heart
But love lingers forever

And Robert Milton is here now
A gold strike in your sad life

Michael cries loudly
Alone
He knows not what you know
You cry alone
You know not what he knows

Call on god my dear mother
He owes you
He’ll give you Old Joes number
All is forgiven
In heaven you will finally be a queen

For the King Old Joe

My Boy Joel

Facebook
Is that our last chance son?
Electronic friends
Forever

Is your best knowledge of me that
Fathers know nothing of good advice
After fifty odd years of living

Are you not
Incapable of difference without disagreement
Without hurt

Without punishing me

And after your first fifty years will you recall
Your trials and tribulations

Will you ever make a mistake?
A wrong call
Or a wrong decision

I did
I made plenty of each

But I opened my heart again

And so will you my son

In mature years

My Boy Craig

My head’s often away
And
I’m sure his mind is without me
At times

It’s hard to work out
My boy’s life

Busy describes it well

But I trust there is love in our hearts
And
Grandkids make me twice proud

A good father
A good son
A good friend

Is
My boy Craig

Faithful Betty

You crossed all lines
When you loved Old Joe
Forever
For his soul was gone at the gate

And we all shed false tears
For each other for too many years

You loved a man in love
With a man in love with a woman
A Romanticist
And Old Joe failed you

Albeit he grew flowers of beauty
For your vase

And bore children of talent

You surrounded yourself with loneliness
My dear mother
Your dream shattered

For you could never be
In love with a man
In love
With anyone but Old Joe
And trapping

And Old Joes passing ruined your every chance
Of happiness
But never as much as it ruined my chance to see you
Loved again

A Poem for Kay

You are a family staple
A hero
Just as rice is a staple
To the world
And you’re as beautiful as the Queen
Everyone’s favourite sister in law
Every in-laws dream

You are a rock
Rock solid
As only rocks can be
And you hold a family together
My vote of love
Is
For you my dear
Its a simple poem from me

Hayley on Poppy’s Verandah

It’s about the safest place to be
An advantage point from which to see
The worlds go by and not wait for me
All her types running free
I’m saddened now and feel little glee
At what we’ve done opening our sea
To types that landed for no fee
Ingratitude I do decree
My grand daughter Hayley on my knee
A confused sweet soul I agree
She knows nothing of racial potpourri
And that terrorism is life’s debris
On my verandah I make this plea
Give her a chance she’s only three

Hayley’s Chooks

Poppy and Nene bought chooks
For their little Hayley Jade
And had visions of their little girl
Collecting the many eggs they laid

Nanny Nene made a pretty basket
That will hang from Hayley’s arm
And Poppy spread the straw about
To make a little farm

There are not any acres here
But it’s the best that we can do
To help our sweetest Grand Daughter
Enjoy our back yard zoo

Sedley

And I’m as sodden with tears
As is that earth around you
Sedley
You will lie in that casket forever
My long lost friend
As gutted as I am it is you who lost
Another thirty years
Of treasured time
With loved ones and friends
Such is the tragedy of a young death
And the adage of a good man
